Restauración de las Artes En Nuestras Iglesias Coloniales
1. The care for cultural patrimony has a long history within traditions of fixing and mending objects and in individual restoration. Artworks are sensitive to environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity and exposure to light; and conservation is an important element of care. Our altars and other artworks in the churches should be monitored every now and then to determine the condition when an artifact requires conservation work and the services of a qualified conservator.
1. El cuidado del patrimonio cultural tiene una larga historia dentro de las tradiciones de la fijación y reparar objetos y en la restauración individual. Obras de arte son sensibles a las condiciones ambientales tales como temperatura, humedad y exposición a la luz, y la conservación es un elemento importante de la atención. Nuestros altares, reredores, y otras obras de arte en las iglesias deben ser monitoreados de vez en cuando para determinar la condición cuando un artefacto requiere un trabajo de un restaurador cualificado.
2. Conservators have backgrounds in the fine arts, art history,chemistry, photography, and other special skills for the practical application of that knowledge. Minimal intervention, appropriate materials and methods that aim to be reversible to reduce possible problems with future treatment, investigation, and full documentation of all work undertaken are just some simple ethical standards.
2. Los conservadores tienen experiencia en las bellas artes, historia del arte, la química, la fotografía, y otras habilidades especiales para la aplicación práctica de ese conocimiento. La intervención mínima, materiales y métodos adecuados que tienen como objetivo ser reversibles al reducir los posibles problemas con el tratamiento futuro, la investigación y documentación completa de todos los trabajos realizados son sólo algunas de las normas éticas.
3. The word “restoration” has not imparted knowledge by formal instructions and therefore very misleading. Applied by those who do not understand the significance of the word and its’ procedures, “restoration” simply means the practice of renovating, and even changing our churches facade, particularly in repainting our altarpieces, interior walls, making them look new and loosing all its’ aesthetic values. Artist/Conservators are important because they can provide the members of the churches’ restoration committee vital information to unfold the innate capacities. The restoration committee of the church may then improve and develop its understanding and the acceptance about conservation for the future role and function.
3. La palabra “restauración” no ha impartido el conocimiento por instrucciones formales y por lo tanto muy erróneo. Aplicado por aquellos que no entienden el significado de la palabra y procedimientos, la “restauración” simplemente significa la práctica de renovación, y hasta cambiar la fachada de las iglesias, repintar los reredores, y paredes interiores. Los conservadores es importante porque ellos pueden proporcionar a los miembros del comité de restauración de las iglesias información vital para desplegar las capacidades innatas. El comité de restauración de la iglesia puede mejorar entonces y desarrollar su entendimiento y la aceptación sobre la conservación para el futuro función.
4. It might take time, effort, and money to restore and recollect all the incalculable treasures our Spanish colonial churches once had, but if we do not study the option of having a conservator, eventually all will be lost and gone.
