“In conservation my objectives are to remove or change as little original material as possible and the addition of new material will be justified and kept to the smallest possible amount. In addition, the documentation of my work also contains photographs taken before and after the treatment.”

GUY CUSTODIO was born in Manila in 1954. After graduating from Letran and U.S.T., he immigrated to the U.S. in 1972 and finished secondary at the Hollywood High. He took courses in drawing and music at the LA City College, then later joined the U.S. armed forces that gave him the opportunity to travel in Italy and Spain.
He was so moved with the renaissance art and his passion for 18th century Spanish painters made him permanently lived in Spain where he made his artistic career as an artist/painter and taught modern techniques of recording studios at C.I.E.J. in Barcelona.
He came back to the Philippines in 1992 after living in Spain for more than two decades.
From 1996 to 2003 he traveled back to Spain together with his family during summers and took courses of restorations and conservations of antique arts at workshops with exceptional masters intensively working with frescoes, tempera, panels and other religious artifacts.
Guy Custodio’s artworks are impressionist in nature and his unique style has been collected internationally. He now lives in Bohol preserving the church’s patrimony of art.
GUY CUSTODIO nació en Manila en 1954. Después de graduarse de Letrán y U.S.T., emigró a los Estados Unidos en 1972 y terminó secundaria en Hollywood High. Tomó cursos de dibujo y música en L.A.C.C., y más tarde se unió a las fuerzas armadas estadounidenses que le dio la oportunidad de viajar a Italia y España.
Él, movido por el arte renacimiento y pintores Españoles del siglo XVIII, Le hizo vivir permanentemente en España como artista/pintor y musico.
Él volvió en Filipinas en 1992 después de vivir en España durante más de dos décadas.
De 1996 a 2003 viajó a España junto con su familia durante los veranos y tomó cursos de restauraciones y conservaciones de las artes antiguas en los talleres con maestros excepcionales que trabajan intensamente con frescos, temperas, paneles y otros objetos religiosos.
Sus obras son de impresionista y su estilo único ha sido recogido internacionalmente.
Vive en Bohol restaurando artes tradicionales de las Iglesias Catolicas.
